Because of You…

School Supplies Make a BIG Difference

A single mother of three, and a Feed My People client for a number of years, recently lost her job in a position that requires specific skill and training that is not easily transferable. Grateful for the twice monthly food she receives, she was ecstatic about the school supply giveaway. “It’s been difficult to make ends meet during this pandemic, but knowing I needed to buy school supplies was really putting me on edge. I didn’t know what I was going do.”

Feed My People is grateful to the National Council of Jewish Women for providing us with backpacks filled with school supplies for our families with school aged children.

Girl Scouts from Troop 1203 assisted in the South County giveaway, while a younger brother, a boy scout, likes volunteering because “I really want to help the homeless and you never know who is homeless.”

Excited students, served in High Ridge, are receiving their backpacks at regularly scheduled Help Center visits.

Covid Won’t Kill Christmas

The Adopt-a-Family and Christmas Tree Programs will look a little different this year but with your help, our  clients will be assured of a Merry Christmas.

Anyone interested in adopting a family can contact Ted in South County, or Mary in High   Ridge at

To keep everyone safe, we are asking that you provide gift cards to any retailer of your preferance and in any   amount you choose, to be gifted to your adopted client family.

We still hope to have a Christmas Tree Program shopping experience, with help from volunteer personal shoppers. Details are still being resolved.

Contact if you would like to volunteer.

Thrifty Hanger Report - Early Fall 2020

One thing we all have in common in this pandemic is that we find ourselves out of our comfort zones. Normal routines, we took for granted are now analyzed to keep our families safe. Years ago we were fighting through the crowd at Kmart, hoping to reach a Cabbage Patch doll before they were gone. Who knew that 40 years later we would be doing that for toilet paper!

Now that our Thrifty Hanger stores are open, our customers say they are thrilled to be able to socialize and return to their “normal routine”. We’re so happy to see you again. Please remember to wear a mask while shopping and maintain 6’ apart.

We’re doing our best to keep our customers and volunteers safe by sanitizing throughout each day, keeping 6’ apart, and isolating donations before pricing and placing on the sales floor.

Store hours are “currently” Mon-Fri 10-3, Sat 9-2. (Hours are subject to change at any time as covid restrictions change.)

Welcome back to our customers and volunteers. If you’re not ready to return, that’s ok, we’ll be here when you are. Do what you need to do to keep you and your family safe and healthy.

Now and Forever: Feed My People

Karen Lanter, MPA, CFRE, CAP®
Executive Director, Feed My People

Since joining Feed My People, I have been fortunate to be part of a force for good that can never be defined or defeated. No one person, people or pandemic can stop this incredible place where churches of all different denominations, more than 400 volunteers, countless schools and businesses and so many others have worked together since 1982 to provide direct help to people in need. Feed My People continues to stand as a beacon of hope in the communities we serve. This goodness should only grow, and never be diminished.

A priority I have as Executive Director is to properly steward Feed My People’s mission, to nurture it, support it and, very importantly, grow its impact.

Feed My People is dedicated to caring for all of God’s children, especially those who are struggling. The good people who comprise Feed My People continually move me with their passion to help others. They give of themselves to lift others up. Kindness, empathy and love must guide us today and in the future.

Do you know deep satisfaction? If not, you can find it at Feed My People.

Volunteer at Feed My People, if you have not. It is a great chance to step out of your comfort level and feel the joy of giving back. Feed My People with focus and determination is dedicated to identifying and offering opportunities to help people even more. Our job placement services are available for people in need. Visit

You will see the opportunity to request job seeking assistance on our home page. We are also recruiting volunteers to identify resources and to help people in need. Please contact Stephanie if you want to know more.

Finally, if you have not already, I encourage you to visit our Thrift Hanger thrift stores. Our thrift stores are open for business and feature the opportunity to support our mission. These thrift stores not only allow us to provide clothing and housewares to people in need at no or low cost, but they also support our mission, granting us and you the joy of helping others who are struggling. Stop by. We have fresher inventories and deep discounts every day.

I seek to build Feed My People, to only make it better. I will, with God’s help, leave it stronger and even better than I found it.
